How MUSE Came To Be

Friends, Simmi and Dan, always knew they had more to give but, like most of us, weren’t impassioned on any particular cause until they came across period poverty.

Having first-hand identified a severe need in a local community, their eyes opened to the sheer scale of the problem and they knew this was their calling. They could make a real difference.

Period poverty is a global issue affecting women and girls who don’t have access to safe, hygienic sanitary products, and/or who are unable to manage their periods with dignity, sometimes due to community stigma and sanction

Periods should not be seen as shameful, dirty or the like. Periods are beautiful; without periods, not one of us would be alive. It is time to honour that which has been left unspoken. It is time to empower her. She is the Daughter. The Sister. The Mother. She is the future. She is our MUSE.

Not only are the young girls of our country being affected, but their families, society and our earth are negatively impacted as well. Muse aims to address all these areas through education and the distribution of reusable period products.

The duo believes in creating hope for a better future, where we as a people – from different cultures and walks of life, can thrive in this beautiful country we live in, instead of just survive. We are a village.

A message from the founders of Muse, Simmi and Dan

“We would like to thank you for the love, support and generosity shown by supporting this cause. Every donation of time, vouchers, product or money has contributed to making a real difference. Positively changing our future and the world in which we live, one Muse at a time. Thank you”

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has…” anonymous
